Has chemotactic activity for neutrophils. May play arole in inflammation and exerts its effects on endothelial cellsin an autocrine fashion. In vitro, the processed forms GRO-alpha(4-73), GRO-alpha(5-73) and GRO-alpha(6-73) show a 30-foldhigher chemotactic activity. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10095777}. Binds copper, nickel, and fatty acids as well as, andbilirubin less well than, serum albumin. Only a small percentage(less than 2%) of the human AFP shows estrogen-binding properties.
