Transcriptional activator that may play a role in theunfolded protein response. Binds to the UPR element (UPRE) but notto CRE element. Preferentially binds DNA with to the consensussequence 5'-T[GT]ACGT[GA][GT]-3' and has transcriptionalactivation activity from UPRE. Binds to NF-kappa-B site and hastranscriptional activation activity from NF-kappa-B-containingregulatory elements (By similarity). {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:16236796}. Binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins epsilon. Highaffinity receptor. Responsible for initiating the allergicresponse. Binding of allergen to receptor-bound IgE leads to cellactivation and the release of mediators (such as histamine)responsible for the manifestations of allergy. The same receptoralso induces the secretion of important lymphokines.
