Carboxypeptidase that catalyzes the release of a C-terminal amino acid, but has little or no action with -Asp, -Glu,-Arg, -Lys or -Pro. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:8806703}. Regulates COPI-mediated retrograde protein traffic atthe interface between the Golgi apparatus and the endoplasmicreticulum (PubMed:18556652). Involved in the maintenance of theGolgi apparatus morphology (PubMed:26581903). Has no detectablekinase activity in vitro (PubMed:18556652).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:18556652, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26581903}. Isoform 6 acts as transcriptional activator. It binds tothree different types of GC-rich DNA binding sites (box-A, -B and-C) in the beta-polymerase promoter region. It also binds to theTERT promoter region. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18556652}.
