Catalytic component of the CCR4-NOTcomplex which is linked to various cellular processes includingbulk mRNA degradation, miRNA-mediated repression, translationalrepression during translational initiation and generaltranscription regulation. During miRNA-mediated repression thecomplex seems also to act as translational repressor duringtranslational initiation. Additional complex functions may be aconsequence of its influence on mRNA expression.
