Catalyzes the transfer of sulfate to position 4 of non-reducing N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) residues in both N-glycansand O-glycans. Participates in biosynthesis of glycoproteinhormones lutropin and thyrotropin, by mediating sulfation of theircarbohydrate structures. Has a higher activity toward carbonicanhydrase VI than toward lutropin. Only active against terminalGalNAcbeta1,GalNAcbeta. Isoform 2, but not isoform 1, is activetoward chondroitin. May be involved in transcriptional regulation. May playa role during osteoclast differentiation by modulating TRAF6signaling activity.
