Acts as a transcriptional repressor. Involved in theearly stages of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) osteogenicdifferentiation. Is a regulator of podocyte gene expression duringprimary glomerula disease. Binds to promoter DNA.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:12659632, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21174497}. Fodrin, which seems to be involved in secretion,interacts with calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner and isthus candidate for the calcium-dependent movement of thecytoskeleton at the membrane.
