O14810

Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}. Positively regulates a late step in exocytosis ofvarious cytoplasmic vesicles, such as synaptic vesicles and othersecretory vesicles (PubMed:21785414). Organizes the SNAREs into across-linked zigzag topology that, when interposed between thevesicle and plasma membranes, is incompatible with fusion, therebypreventing SNAREs from releasing neurotransmitters until an actionpotential arrives at the synapse (PubMed:21785414). Also involvedin glucose-induced secretion of insulin by pancreatic beta-cells.Essential for motor behavior. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P63040,ECO:0000269|PubMed:21785414}.
