GBAP1

Thiosulfate:glutathione sulfurtransferase (TST) requiredto produce S-sulfanylglutathione (GSS(-)), a central intermediatein hydrogen sulfide metabolism (PubMed:24981631). Provides thelink between the first step in mammalian H(2)S metabolismperformed by the sulfide:quinone oxidoreductase (SQOR) whichcatalyzes the conversion of H(2)S to thiosulfate, and the sulfurdioxygenase (SDO) which uses GSS(-) as substrate(PubMed:24981631). The thermodynamic coupling of the irreversibleSDO and reversible TST reactions provides a model for thephysiologically relevant reaction with thiosulfate as the sulfanedonor (PubMed:24981631). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:24981631}. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}.
