SF3A3

Q12874

Controls V(D)J recombination during T-cell developmentby repressing T-cell receptor (TCR) beta enhancer function. Bindsto scaffold/matrix attachment region beta (S/MARbeta), an ATC-richDNA sequence located upstream of the TCR beta enhancer. Repressescyclin D1 transcription by recruiting HDAC1 to its promoter, thereby diminishing H3K9ac, H3S10ph and H4K8ac levels. PromotesTP53 'Ser-15' phosphorylation and nuclear accumulation, whichcauses cell cycle arrest (By similarity). {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:16166625}. Subunit of the splicing factor SF3A required for 'A'complex assembly formed by the stable binding of U2 snRNP to thebranchpoint sequence (BPS) in pre-mRNA. Sequence independentbinding of SF3A/SF3B complex upstream of the branch site isessential, it may anchor U2 snRNP to the pre-mRNA. May also beinvolved in the assembly of the 'E' complex.
