Receptor that may play a role in the perception ofbitterness and is gustducin-linked. May play a role in sensing thechemical composition of the gastrointestinal content. The activityof this receptor may stimulate alpha gustducin, mediate PLC-beta-2activation and lead to the gating of TRPM5 (By similarity).{ECO:0000250}. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141).
