GOSR1

O95249

Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}. Involved in transport from the ER to the Golgi apparatusas well as in intra-Golgi transport. It belongs to a super-familyof proteins called t-SNAREs or soluble NSF (N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor) attachment protein receptor. May play aprotective role against hydrogen peroxide induced cytotoxicityunder glutathione depleted conditions in neuronal cells byregulating the intracellular ROS levels via inhibition of p38 MAPK(MAPK11, MAPK12, MAPK13 and MAPK14). Participates in docking andfusion stage of ER to cis-Golgi transport. Plays an importantphysiological role in VLDL-transport vesicle-Golgi fusion and thusin VLDL delivery to the hepatic cis-Golgi.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:15215310, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21860593}.
