Plays an essential role in the assembly of succinatedehydrogenase (SDH), an enzyme complex (also referred to asrespiratory complex II) that is a component of both thetricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and the mitochondrial electrontransport chain, and which couples the oxidation of succinate tofumarate with the reduction of ubiquinone (coenzyme Q) toubiquinol. Required for flavinylation (covalent attachment of FAD)of the flavoprotein subunit SDHA of the SDH catalytic dimer.{ECO:0000255|HAMAP-Rule:MF_03057, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19628817}. Ras effector protein, which may serve as an inhibitorymodulator of neuronal plasticity in aversive memory formation. Canaffect Ras signaling at different levels. First, by competing withRAF1 protein for binding to activated Ras. Second, by enhancingsignaling from ABL1 and ABL2, which regulate cytoskeletalremodeling. Third, by activating RAB5A, possibly by functioning asa guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for RAB5A, byexchanging bound GDP for free GTP, and facilitating Ras-activatedreceptor endocytosis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15886098,ECO:0000269|PubMed:9144171, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9208849}.
