Isoform 6 acts as transcriptional activator. It binds tothree different types of GC-rich DNA binding sites (box-A, -B and-C) in the beta-polymerase promoter region. It also binds to theTERT promoter region. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18556652}. | Receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involvedin detection of sensations such as coolness, by being activated bycold temperature below 25 degrees Celsius. Activated by icilin,eucalyptol, menthol, cold and modulation of intracellular pH.Involved in menthol sensation.
