Stearyl-CoA desaturase that utilizes O(2) and electronsfrom reduced cytochrome b5 to introduce the first double bond intosaturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates. Catalyzes the insertion of acis double bond at the delta-9 position into fatty acyl-CoAsubstrates including palmitoyl-CoA and stearoyl-CoA(PubMed:15907797, PubMed:15610069). Gives rise to a mixture of16:1 and 18:1 unsaturated fatty acids.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:15610069, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15907797}. In BCR signaling, appears to function as a dockingprotein acting downstream of TEC and participates in a positivefeedback loop by increasing the activity of TEC.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10518561}.
