Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}. Controls V(D)J recombination during T-cell developmentby repressing T-cell receptor (TCR) beta enhancer function. Bindsto scaffold/matrix attachment region beta (S/MARbeta), an ATC-richDNA sequence located upstream of the TCR beta enhancer. Repressescyclin D1 transcription by recruiting HDAC1 to its promoter, thereby diminishing H3K9ac, H3S10ph and H4K8ac levels. PromotesTP53 'Ser-15' phosphorylation and nuclear accumulation, whichcauses cell cycle arrest (By similarity). {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:16166625}.
