Involved in DNA damage response. Involved in a RAD9A-related damage checkpoint, a pathway that is important indetermining whether DNA damage is compatible with cell survival orwhether it requires cell elimination by apoptosis. Modulates theRAD9A interaction with BCL2 and thereby induces DNA damages-induced apoptosis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15983387}. Transcriptional activator which specifically regulatesexpression of TBX22 in the posterior region of the developingpalate. Required during later stages of palate development forgrowth and medial fusion of the palatal shelves. Promotesmaturation and normal function of calvarial osteoblasts, includingexpression of the osteoclastogenic cytokine TNFSF11/RANKL.Necessary for normal development of the membranous bones of theskull (By similarity). May play a role in tumor suppression(Probable). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:D3YWE6,ECO:0000305|PubMed:7731706}.
