Protein tyrosine phosphatase that negatively regulatesoligodendrocyte precursor proliferation in the embryonic spinalcord. Required for normal differentiation of the precursor cellsinto mature, fully myelinating oligodendrocytes. May play a rolein protecting oligondendrocytes against apoptosis.
