The B regulatory subunit might modulate substrateselectivity and catalytic activity, and also might direct thelocalization of the catalytic enzyme to a particular subcellularcompartment. The 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex catalyzes theoverall conversion of 2-oxoglutarate to succinyl-CoA and CO(2). Itcontains multiple copies of three enzymatic components: 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamidesuccinyltransferase (E2) and lipoamide dehydrogenase (E3) (Bysimilarity). {ECO:0000250}.
