Involved in the negative regulation of p53 expression(PubMed:23242139). Required for the relief of p53-dependentcheckpoint mediated cell cycle arrest. Binds to anddephosphorylates 'Ser-15' of TP53 and 'Ser-345' of CHEK1 whichcontributes to the functional inactivation of these proteins(PubMed:15870257, PubMed:16311512). Mediates MAPK14dephosphorylation and inactivation (PubMed:21283629). As part of the NPC Nup107-160 subcomplex playsa role in RNA export and in tethering NUP96/Nup98 and NUP153 tothe nucleus (PubMed:12718872). The Nup107-160 complex seems to berequired for spindle assembly during mitosis (PubMed:16807356).NUP85 is required for membrane clustering of CCL2-activated CCR2(PubMed:15995708).
