P42262

Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}. Receptor for glutamate that functions as ligand-gatedion channel in the central nervous system and plays an importantrole in excitatory synaptic transmission. L-glutamate acts as anexcitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the centralnervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L-glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening ofthe cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to anelectrical impulse. The receptor then desensitizes rapidly andenters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presenceof bound agonist. In the presence of CACNG4 or CACNG7 or CACNG8,shows resensitization which is characterized by a delayedaccumulation of current flux upon continued application ofglutamate. Through complex formation with NSG1, GRIP1 and STX12controls the intracellular fate of AMPAR and the endosomal sortingof the GRIA2 subunit toward recycling and membrane targeting (Bysimilarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P19491,ECO:0000269|PubMed:20614889}.
