In the BHCcomplex, it may act as a scaffold. Inhibits KDM1A-mediateddemethylation of 'Lys-4' of histone H3 in vitro, suggesting a rolein demethylation regulation. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16140033}. | Can act either as a transcriptional repressor or as atranscriptional activator, depending on the cell context. Acts asa repressor of the Hedgehog signaling pathway (By similarity).Represses the Hedgehog-dependent expression of Wnt4 (Bysimilarity). Necessary to maintain the differentiated epithelialphenotype in renal cells through the inhibition of SNAI1, whichitself induces the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (Bysimilarity). Represses transcriptional activation mediated byCTNNB1 in the Wnt signaling pathway. May act by recruiting thecorepressors CTBP1 and HDAC3.
