Catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of 6-phosphogluconate to ribulose 5-phosphate and CO(2), withconcomitant reduction of NADP to NADPH. {ECO:0000250}. mRNA splicing factor that regulates the formation ofepithelial cell-specific isoforms. Specifically regulates theexpression of FGFR2-IIIb, an epithelial cell-specific isoform ofFGFR2. Also regulates the splicing of CD44, CTNND1, ENAH, 3transcripts that undergo changes in splicing during theepithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
