Recognizes and binds the palindromic sequence 5'-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3' present in viral and cellular promoters and inthe origin of replication of adenovirus type 2. These proteins areindividually capable of activating transcription and replication. Metallocarboxypeptidase that mediates deglutamylation oftarget proteins. Catalyzes the deglutamylation of polyglutamateside chains generated by post-translational polyglutamylation inproteins such as tubulins. Also removes polyglutamates from thecarboxy-terminus of target proteins such as MYLK. Mediatesdeglutamylation of CGAS, regulating the antiviral activity ofCGAS. Acts as a long-chain deglutamylase and specifically shortenslong polyglutamate chains, while it is not able to remove thebranching point glutamate, a process catalyzed by AGBL5/CCP5.{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q09LZ8}.
