Also functions as a glutathione peroxidase. Phosphorylates uridine and cytidine to uridinemonophosphate and cytidine monophosphate. Does not phosphorylatedeoxyribonucleosides or purine ribonucleosides. Can use ATP or GTPas a phosphate donor.
