SOCS4

Q8WXH5

Galactose-specific lectin which binds IgE. May mediatewith the alpha-3, beta-1 integrin the stimulation by CSPG4 ofendothelial cells migration. Together with DMBT1, required forterminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during earlyembryogenesis (By similarity). In the nucleus: acts as a pre-mRNAsplicing factor. Involved in acute inflammatory responsesincluding neutrophil activation and adhesion, chemoattraction ofmonocytes macrophages, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, andactivation of mast cells. {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:15181153, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19594635,ECO:0000269|PubMed:19616076}. SOCS family proteins form part of a classical negativefeedback system that regulates cytokine signal transduction.Substrate-recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin BC-CUL2/5-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex whichmediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradationof target proteins. Inhibits EGF signaling by mediating thedegradation of the Tyr-phosphorylated EGF receptor/EGFR.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:15590694, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17997974}.
