MUC19

Regulatory subunit of the calcium activated potassiumKCNMA1 (maxiK) channel. Modulates the calcium sensitivity andgating kinetics of KCNMA1, thereby contributing to KCNMA1 channeldiversity. Decreases the gating kinetics and calcium sensitivityof the KCNMA1 channel, but with fast deactivation kinetics. Maydecrease KCNMA1 channel openings at low calcium concentrations butincreases channel openings at high calcium concentrations. MakesKCNMA1 channel resistant to 100 nM charybdotoxin (CTX) toxinconcentrations. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10692449,ECO:0000269|PubMed:10792058, ECO:0000269|PubMed:10828459}. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}.
