May act as a transcriptional coactivator for RUNX1 andRUNX2. Sperm surface membrane protein that may be involved insperm-egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion duringfertilization. Could have a direct role in sperm-zona binding ormigration of sperm from the uterus into the oviduct. Interactionswith egg membrane could be mediated via binding between itsdisintegrin-like domain to one or more integrins receptors on theegg. This is a non catalytic metalloprotease-like protein.
