Main function of each fusion partner protein. (from UniProt) |
Hgene | Tgene |
IPO11 | CENPJ |
Functions in nuclear protein import as nuclear transportreceptor. Serves as receptor for nuclear localization signals(NLS) in cargo substrates. Is thought to mediate docking of theimportin/substrate complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC)through binding to nucleoporin and the complex is subsequentlytranslocated through the pore by an energy requiring, Ran-dependent mechanism. At the nucleoplasmic side of the NPC, Ranbinds to the importin, the importin/substrate complex dissociatesand importin is re-exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasmwhere GTP hydrolysis releases Ran. The directionality of nuclearimport is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution ofthe GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm andnucleus (By similarity). Mediates the nuclear import of UBE2E3,and of RPL12 (By similarity). {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:11032817}. | Plays an important role in cell division and centrosomefunction by participating in centriole duplication(PubMed:17681131, PubMed:20531387). Inhibits microtubulenucleation from the centrosome. Involved in the regulation of slowprocessive growth of centriolar microtubules. Acts as microtubuleplus-end tracking protein that stabilizes centriolar microtubulesand inhibits microtubule polymerization and extension from thedistal ends of centrioles (PubMed:15047868, PubMed:27219064,PubMed:27306797). Required for centriole elongation and for STIL-mediated centriole amplification (PubMed:22020124). Required forthe recruitment of CEP295 to the proximal end of new-borncentrioles at the centriolar microtubule wall during early S phasein a PLK4-dependent manner (PubMed:27185865). May be involved inthe control of centriolar-microtubule growth by acting as aregulator of tubulin release (PubMed:27306797).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:15047868, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17681131,ECO:0000269|PubMed:20531387, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22020124,ECO:0000269|PubMed:27185865, ECO:0000269|PubMed:27219064,ECO:0000305|PubMed:27306797}. |
