Associates with cyclin G and CDK5. Seems to act as anauxilin homolog that is involved in the uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles by Hsc70 in non-neuronal cells. Expressionoscillates slightly during the cell cycle, peaking at G1.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10625686}. Cell adhesion protein that promotes adhesion andoutgrowth of hippocampal embryonic neurons. Binds directly tobacteria and their components and functions as an opsonin formacrophage phagocytosis of bacteria. Essential in the initiationof the innate immune response and represents a unique pattern-recognition molecule in the ECM for microbial pathogens (Bysimilarity). Binds bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS).{ECO:0000250}.
