Component of the U5 snRNP and the U4/U6-U5 tri-snRNPcomplex required for pre-mRNA splicing. Binds GTP. The exact function of MAP2 is unknown but MAPs maystabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They alsoseem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules.
