Necessaryfor proper fetal development and for definitive erythropoiesis infetal liver, where it degrades nuclear DNA expelled from erythroidprecursor cells. | Acts as a negative regulator of G1 to S cell cycle phaseprogression by inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinases. Inhibitoryeffects are additive with GADD45 proteins but occurs also in theabsence of GADD45 proteins. Acts as a repressor of the orphannuclear receptor NR4A1 by inhibiting AB domain-mediatedtranscriptional activity. May be involved in the hormone-mediatedregulation of NR4A1 transcriptional activity. May play a role inmitochondrial protein synthesis. |
