Complex that is thought to mediate chromatin assembly inDNA replication and DNA repair. Assembles histone octamers ontoreplicating DNA in vitro. CAF-1 performs the first step of thenucleosome assembly process, bringing newly synthesized histonesH3 and H4 to replicating DNA; histones H2A/H2B can bind to thischromatin precursor subsequent to DNA replication to complete thehistone octamer. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9813080}. May be involved in protein traffic between late Golgiand early endosomes. {ECO:0000250}.
