Probable guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) whichmay activate RAB10. Promotes the exchange of GDP to GTP,converting inactive GDP-bound Rab proteins into their active GTP-bound form. According to PubMed:8056341, it may bind to ISRE-likeelement (interferon-stimulated response element) of MYC P2promoter. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20937701,ECO:0000269|PubMed:8056341}. Critical component of the visual transduction cascade,controlling the calcium concentration of outer segments duringlight and darkness. Light causes a rapid lowering of cytosolicfree calcium in the outer segment of both retinal rod and conephotoreceptors and the light-induced lowering of calcium is causedby extrusion via this protein which plays a key role in theprocess of light adaptation. Transports 1 Ca(2+) and 1 K(+) inexchange for 4 Na(+). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10608890}.
