CYB5R1

Q9UHQ9

Receptor for ADIPOQ, an essential hormone secreted byadipocytes that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism(PubMed:25855295, PubMed:12802337). Required for normal glucoseand fat homeostasis and for maintaining a normal body weight.ADIPOQ-binding activates a signaling cascade that leads toincreased AMPK activity, and ultimately to increased fatty acidoxidation, increased glucose uptake and decreased gluconeogenesis.Has high affinity for globular adiponectin and low affinity forfull-length adiponectin (By similarity).{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q91VH1, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12802337,ECO:0000269|PubMed:25855295}. NADH-cytochrome b5 reductases are involved indesaturation and elongation of fatty acids, cholesterolbiosynthesis, drug metabolism, and, in erythrocyte, methemoglobinreduction. {ECO:0000250}.
