HgeneTgene
CIT

O14578

NUTF2

P61970

Plays a role in cytokinesis. Required for KIF14localization to the central spindle and midbody. Putative RHO/RACeffector that binds to the GTP-bound forms of RHO and RAC1. Itprobably binds p21 with a tighter specificity in vivo. Displaysserine/threonine protein kinase activity. Plays an important rolein the regulation of cytokinesis and the development of thecentral nervous system. Phosphorylates MYL9/MLC2.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:16236794, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16431929,ECO:0000269|PubMed:21457715, ECO:0000269|PubMed:27453578}. Mediates the import of GDP-bound RAN from the cytoplasminto the nucleus which is essential for the function of RAN incargo receptor-mediated nucleocytoplasmic transport. Thereby, plays indirectly a more general role in cargo receptor-mediatednucleocytoplasmic transport. Interacts with GDP-bound RAN in thecytosol, recruits it to the nuclear pore complex via itsinteraction with nucleoporins and promotes its nuclear import.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10679025, ECO:0000269|PubMed:7744965}.
