LRRC8C

Q8TDW0

Seems to phosphorylate critical substrates that regulatethe G1/S phase transition and/or DNA replication. Canphosphorylates MCM2 and MCM3. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12065429}. Non-essential component of the volume-regulated anionchannel (VRAC, also named VSOAC channel), an anion channelrequired to maintain a constant cell volume in response toextracellular or intracellular osmotic changes. The VRAC channelconducts iodide better than chloride and can also conduct organicosmolytes like taurine. Plays a redundant role in the efflux ofamino acids, such as aspartate and glutamate, in response toosmotic stress. Channel activity requires LRRC8A plus at least oneother family member (LRRC8B, LRRC8C, LRRC8D or LRRC8E); channelcharacteristics depend on the precise subunit composition.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:24790029, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26824658,ECO:0000269|PubMed:28193731}.
