Required for full ubiquitin ligase activity of theanaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) and may confersubstrate specificity upon the complex. Is regulated by MAD2L1: inmetaphase the MAD2L1-CDC20-APC/C ternary complex is inactive andin anaphase the CDC20-APC/C binary complex is active in degradingsubstrates. The CDC20-APC/C complex positively regulates theformation of synaptic vesicle clustering at active zone to thepresynaptic membrane in postmitotic neurons. CDC20-APC/C-induceddegradation of NEUROD2 induces presynaptic differentiation.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:9637688, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9734353,ECO:0000269|PubMed:9811605}. Guanine nucleotide-binding protein forming heterodimericRag complexes required for the amino acid-induced relocalizationof mTORC1 to the lysosomes and its subsequent activation by theGTPase RHEB. This is a crucial step in the activation of the TORsignaling cascade by amino acids. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20381137,ECO:0000269|PubMed:27234373}.
