Acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventingincorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for completeformation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to bespecies-specific. Involved in signal transduction for T-cellactivation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. The soluble form from urine retains its specificcomplement binding activity, but exhibits greatly reduced abilityto inhibit MAC assembly on cell membranes. | Substrate recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein)-type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Mediates theubiquitination of HIPK2 and probably that of EP300, leading torapid degradation by the proteasome. In the presence of PML, HIPK2ubiquitination still occurs, but degradation is prevented.
