F-actin-capping proteins bind in a Ca(2+)-independentmanner to the fast growing ends of actin filaments (barbed end)thereby blocking the exchange of subunits at these ends. Unlikeother capping proteins (such as gelsolin and severin), theseproteins do not sever actin filaments. Plays a role in theregulation of cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:21834987}. Can reduce the dialdehyde protein-binding form ofaflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to the non-binding AFB1 dialcohol. May beinvolved in protection of liver against the toxic and carcinogeniceffects of AFB1, a potent hepatocarcinogen.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:18416522}.
