SIPA1L1

O43166

Calcium-binding protein involved in exocytosis ofvesicles filled with neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. Probablyacts upstream of fusion in the biogenesis or maintenance of maturesecretory vesicles. Regulates catecholamine loading of DCVs. Mayspecifically mediate the Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of largedense-core vesicles (DCVs) and other dense-core vesicles by actingas a PtdIns(4,5)P2-binding protein that acts at prefusion stepfollowing ATP-dependent priming and participates in DCVs-membranefusion. However, it may also participate in small clear synapticvesicles (SVs) exocytosis and it is unclear whether its functionis related to Ca(2+) triggering (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. Stimulates the GTPase activity of RAP2A. Promotesreorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and recruits DLG4 to F-actin. Contributes to the regulation of dendritic spinemorphogenesis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
