When associated with NACA, prevents inappropriatetargeting of non-secretory polypeptides to the endoplasmicreticulum (ER). Binds to nascent polypeptide chains as they emergefrom the ribosome and blocks their interaction with the signalrecognition particle (SRP), which normally targets nascentsecretory peptides to the ER. BTF3 is also a general transcriptionfactor that can form a stable complex with RNA polymerase II.Required for the initiation of transcription.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10982809}.
