Recognizes glycoproteins with minor folding defects.Reglucosylates single N-glycans near the misfolded part of theprotein, thus providing quality control for protein folding in theendoplasmic reticulum. Reglucosylated proteins are recognized bycalreticulin for recycling to the endoplasmic reticulum andrefolding or degradation (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. Required to prevent the misactivation of serine (Ser)with tRNA(Ala) by promoting the hydrolysis of Ser-mischargedtRNA(Ala), thereby playing a role in translational fidelity. Bindsdirectly to the catalytic domain of AARS/AlaRS and captures Serthat is misactivated by AARS/AlaRS, preventing the charging of Seradenylates to tRNA(Ala) and precluding Ser misincorporation innascent peptides. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:A2AS55}.
