ATP-citrate synthase is the primary enzyme responsiblefor the synthesis of cytosolic acetyl-CoA in many tissues. Has acentral role in de novo lipid synthesis. In nervous tissue it maybe involved in the biosynthesis of acetylcholine.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:23932781}. Acts as co-chaperone regulating the molecular chaperonesHSP70 and HSP90 in folding of steroid receptors, such as theglucocorticoid receptor and the progesterone receptor. Proposed toact as a recycling chaperone by facilitating the return ofchaperone substrates to early stages of chaperoning if furtherfolding is required. In vitro, induces ATP-independentdissociation of HSP90 but not of HSP70 from the chaperone-substrate complexes. Recruits NR1I3 to the cytoplasm (Bysimilarity). {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12853476,ECO:0000269|PubMed:18620420}.
