Beta-1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase that plays akey role in the synthesis of lacto- or neolacto-seriescarbohydrate chains on glycolipids, notably by participating inbiosynthesis of HNK-1 and Lewis X carbohydrate structures. Hasstrong activity toward lactosylceramide (LacCer) andneolactotetraosylceramide (nLc(4)Cer; paragloboside), resulting inthe synthesis of Lc(3)Cer and neolactopentaosylceramide(nLc(5)Cer), respectively. Probably plays a central role inregulating neolacto-series glycolipid synthesis during embryonicdevelopment. Adds the first Dol-P-Man derived mannose in an alpha-1,3linkage to Man5GlcNAc2-PP-Dol. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10581255}.
