CCT5

P48643

Component of the class I major histocompatibilitycomplex (MHC). Involved in the presentation of peptide antigens tothe immune system. Exogenously applied M.tuberculosis EsxA orEsxA-EsxB (or EsxA expressed in host) binds B2M and decreases itsexport to the cell surface (total protein levels do not change),probably leading to defects in class I antigen presentation(PubMed:25356553). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25356553}. Molecular chaperone; assists the folding of proteinsupon ATP hydrolysis. As part of the BBS/CCT complex may play arole in the assembly of BBSome, a complex involved in ciliogenesisregulating transports vesicles to the cilia. Known to play a role,in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:20080638}.
