Neutral amino acid/proton symporter. Has a pH-dependentelectrogenic transport activity for small amino acids such asglycine, alanine and proline. Besides small apolar L-amino acids,it also recognizes their D-enantiomers and selected amino acidderivatives such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (By similarity).{ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12809675}. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141).
