HN1

Mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase (F(1)F(0) ATPsynthase or Complex V) produces ATP from ADP in the presence of aproton gradient across the membrane which is generated by electrontransport complexes of the respiratory chain. F-type ATPasesconsist of two structural domains, F(1) - containing theextramembraneous catalytic core, and F(0) - containing themembrane proton channel, linked together by a central stalk and aperipheral stalk. During catalysis, ATP synthesis in the catalyticdomain of F(1) is coupled via a rotary mechanism of the centralstalk subunits to proton translocation. Part of the complex F(0)domain and the peripheric stalk, which acts as a stator to holdthe catalytic alpha(3)beta(3) subcomplex and subunit a/ATP6 staticrelative to the rotary elements. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}.
