Required for both autophagosome formation and regulationof lipid droplet morphology and dispersion.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:22219374}. Cell surface receptor for LCN2 (24p3) that plays a keyrole in iron homeostasis and transport. Able to bind iron-boundLCN2 (holo-24p3), followed by internalization of holo-24p3 andrelease of iron, thereby increasing intracellular ironconcentration and leading to inhibition of apoptosis. Also bindsiron-free LCN2 (apo-24p3), followed by internalization of apo-24p3and its association with an intracellular siderophore, leading toiron chelation and iron transfer to the extracellular medium,thereby reducing intracellular iron concentration and resulting inapoptosis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
