Has a role in both cell adhesion by acting as anadhesion receptor for THBS1 on platelets, and in the modulation ofintegrins. Plays an important role in memory formation andsynaptic plasticity in the hippocampus (By similarity). Receptorfor SIRPA, binding to which prevents maturation of immaturedendritic cells and inhibits cytokine production by maturedendritic cells. Interaction with SIRPG mediates cell-celladhesion, enhances superantigen-dependent T-cell-mediatedproliferation and costimulates T-cell activation. May play a rolein membrane transport and/or integrin dependent signaltransduction. May prevent premature elimination of red bloodcells.
