Regulator that plays a central role in regulation ofapoptosis via its interaction with p53/TP53. Regulates TP53 byenhancing the DNA binding and transactivation function of TP53 onthe promoters of proapoptotic genes in vivo.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:11684014}. The mammalian zona pellucida, which mediates species-specific sperm binding, induction of the acrosome reaction andprevents post-fertilization polyspermy, is composed of three tofour glycoproteins, ZP1, ZP2, ZP3, and ZP4. ZP3 is essential forsperm binding and zona matrix formation.
